Hearing for pedestrian crossing in Hersham

12.00.00am GMT Sun 29th Nov 2009

A Petition signed by over 100 Hersham residents for a pedestrian crossing across Molesey Road between Hersham Library and the bus stop opposite be considered by the County Council's Local Committee for Elmbridge on Monday 7th December. The meeting at Cobham Village Hall starts at 4 pm and is open to the public.

The County Council's officers are recommending no action.

The Petition was launched by local Liberal Democrats and is supported by the Librarian and staff and friends of Hersham Library and by residents and staff at nearby Homefield housing unit.

David Weatherly, Liberal Democrat member and lead Petitioner, said he is hopeful that the Local Committee will ask the local highways manager to look again at this proposal. He hopes that the project will, in due course, be accepted for inclusion in the Highways Department's programme for future action.
